Reasons to join!
Consider joining OTI is you would like to participate in the OTI Case Consultation Forum. The Forum offers a place to staff cases in a secure and encrypted environment.
Consider joining OTI if you have a service or product to sell that matches our mission. Perhaps you are an online therapist, coach or educator. You might have a product to sell that would enhance an online therapist’s work. Members receive a listing in the OTI Web Directory which offers links to hundreds of websites in 30 categories.
Consider joining OTI if you are a professional who desires a place to collaborate about topics related to online therapy, cyberpsychology, social networking, peer support or internet addictions. Meet with others who have a passion for understanding how technology impacts mental health.
Consider joining OTI if your organisation would benefit from collaboration and a network that will help promote your goals, services and products.
Types of Membership
INDIVIDUAL
Clinical- Clinical members are members who are either licensed or certified to practice independently in their jurisdiction or country. If no license or certification is applicable in your country and you are able to practice independently, please indicate this on your membership application. We request a minimum of a Bachelor degree with post-bachelor/graduate training in the form of a Masters degree/Diploma, certificate or other representation even if a license or certification is not required in your country.
Clinical members may participate in case consultation/peer supervision discussion boards within the forum.
For Clinical members who practice online, a website listing in the OTI Web Directory (online counseling category) will be added provided the following standards are met:
- Offer encrypted services for email, chat and web conferencing.
- List level of education, schools attended and dates graduated.
- List certifications and licenses if applicable with verification web links.
- List crisis information or a link on the website’s home page.
- List therapist’s alternate contact information in addition to email.
Professional- Professional members are all other members who offer information, services or products related to mental health and technology or who may otherwise be aspired to join the Online Therapy Institute. Professional member’s websites may also be listed in the OTI Web Directory in the appropriate category. Professional members may also have access to the OTI Member Forum.
ORGANISATION
Non-Profit/Educational Institution/Association
Non-Profits, Charities and Educational Institutions can join the Online Therapy Institute and network with other professionals and cohorts in the field of behavioral telehealth, online counselling, cyberpsychology and internet addictions. Charities and Educational Institutions may utilize OTI as a place to share announcements such as research and job openings that benefit OTI members, maintain a listing in the OTI Web Directory, appoint a designated person to join the OTI Member Forum and other discussion boards, and advertise continuing education opportunities and conferences in our Events Calendar.
Business/Corporate
Our Business/Corporate membership allows businesses and corporations that offer services and products which enhance delivery of behavioral services to network with other individuals and businesses within the Online Therapy Institute. Businesses may advertise the business in our OTI Web Directory, appoint a designated person to join the OTI Member Forum and other discussion boards, and advertise expos and conferences in our Events Calendar.
All member organizations will be featured in an Online Therapy Institute Blog post!
Your membership also includes the following:
Updates via email announcements about continuing education opportunities face to face, online and in Second Life.
Promotion of your website through the OTI Web Directory, Twitter and the OTI Blog with postings to major search engines through the directory’s RSS Feed.
Use of Online Therapy Institute Member Logo on member websites.
Free Resources
OTI offers many resources to professionals and the public that are free of charge. A paid membership is not necessary to join the OTI Social Network, access the OTI Bookstore or Web Directory, or read and comment on our Blog or Wiki. The Online Therapy Institute also hosts a discussion group at Links for Shrinks, Facebook, Second Life and Linkedin.
