How do I get a website built so that I can begin offering online services?

  • Read the OTI Ethical Framework to be sure you understand your ethical responsibilities regarding the delivery of online therapeutic services. Review our other Ethical Frameworks regarding Coaching, Social Media, Disaster Mental Health and Career and School Guidance.
  • Follow the checklist offered through our Get Verified service. Once you have built your website, consider becoming Verified.

Can I practice across state lines? Can I practice internationally?

  • Our ethical framework states you must know the laws and rules of your own georgraphic region as well as the laws and rules of your client’s geographic region.
  • In the United States, erring on the side of caution for the purposes of risk management suggests practicing within state boundaries.
  • Be sure to also follow the ethical code of your professional organization or certifying/licensing body.
